About This Game

Runeyana is an RPG that combines Hack and Slash action. It evokes a story of bravery, strength, courage, trust and the desire to overcome destiny. Set in a deep, responsive, huge world, you will explore a beautiful sprawling land gaining the trust of various species scattered throughout the world. As in real life, you will cope with internal racial tensions by obtaining their trust through reputation.   Very promising game, hope to see more of it in future ! There is even character customisation even it is not finish right now.
  
  I love how cute and sexy the female character is, that would be cool to see more hairs etc but you can make a nice character now.
  Of course the game needs more content and maybe ennemies respawning without having to
  log out the game (so you can gather leather and bones more easily for the craft). Not much I can say about it just yet, but it seems more than a little rough around the edges. Not going to recommend this just yet, but that may change as the controls and graphics get better.. It's like a joke.   Runeyana is at it's core a 3d hack and slash game, but it has a few twists thrown in to up the gameplay value.
  
  Crafting your own armour and weapons from creature drops is quite rewarding (ala Monster Hunter), but has to be done at a specific NPC after finding a blueprint for the armour\/weapon you want, the UI here can get somewhat confusing and it's not always apparent what you need to actually craft the item you want.
  I also have an issue with everytime I approach the crafting guy a tutorial screen pops up which has to be dismissed by bringing up the cursor.......which brings us to the UI.
  
  The UI is (to put it bluntly) awful, bringing up the cursor to click stuff is fine however it doesn't pause the game or detach the mouse from the looking around function, by experience I've had a level-up screen pop up as I was taking a jump miles off the ground, this not only obscured half my screen but my flailing around trying to dismiss it resulted in a plummet downwards, the UI and menu system needs a serious re-vamp.
  
  Don't want to totally wail on the game as it has a few nice touchs too, I personally think the charactor art is amazing, the ability to craft a chest once you get to the main city which appears in other peoples games (they can loot your cash -hide it well) is a cool idea, you can also get prestige with certain factions who will then guard your chest whilst you are away, I did notice something about them guarding your buildings too but I haven't got that far into it yet.

  What's there is very playable and fairly solid.
  7 hours in -not a single crash.
  Has a lot of potential once the features are all in place.
  Developer is very passionate and active in the community.
  Has a charming quirkiness to it that draws you back in.
  
  Cons:
  The UI is a lesson in frustration and confusion at the same time.
  Tutorials (lack of and show up too much when they do).
  Dying is easy in the main city with some enemies one shotting you, after death your health isn't replenished forcing you to make vast amounts of potions to get anywhere.
  
  Since my initial review this has been pushed to a full release, almost none of it's initial flaws have been addressed and the game remains unfinished, if the game gets a major UI overhaul along with some odd quirks being addressed then it might warrent a thumbs up.. I don't do reviews usually but here goes:-

  The climbing and flying mechanic takes a bit getting used to, but it is really quite good, and gives you great travel ability, with nothing left unsurpassable, or unscalable. They do have teleport points as well to save time.
  I really dont know a great deal about the game, having fun learning(lvl 8), other than a few mental pauses in the crafting area.
  The combat is fast and responsive, and once you understand the skill use, its pretty fun.
  Voice acting is laughable, and ui is someone in the same vein, but other than that a very solid game, no problems with it running or lack of content it seems.
  As far as content, there are beginning quest that lead to a chain it seems, killing a troll to loot a box, get the humans and others to raise their liking of you. Armor and weapons of furthering lvls to find and make, getting the components. Finding magic buffs for weapons and armor., learning new skills by experimenting with controls. And more content to come, so for its price nothing wrong here, just could have had more time in the oven. The developers are asking what we want made better and worked on, and seem to be very intent on making the game a good one.
